This is a clear, oil free geleé that absorbs instantly (since alpha-hydroxies work on the top layers of the skin, it is important that these products be highly absorptive). It contains no ingredients which might interfere with the effectiveness of the triple fruit acids. This is why we designed this facial product as a light geleé, and not as a cream or lotion (an emulsion) combination moisturizer/AHA. Moisturizers require the addition of ingredients that might buffer the AHA process, necessitating the use of a higher concentration of AHAs to achieve the same benefits we can achieve with a geleé at a moderate (and therefore less irritating) AHA concentration of 5%. NOTE: this is a true 5%, not simply a 5% solution of which only a portion is actually composed of AHA ingredients.

The pH value of an alpha-hydroxy product is another important factor. Recent studies indicate that AHA products formulated at a moderate pH are effective, but less irritating than products formulated at a very low pH (acidic). Too high a pH renders alpha-hydroxies less effective. Our product is formulated at pH 4, close to the skin's normal pH value.

In addition, we have added green tea extract for its soothing qualities. We believe that our Hydron-based formula, the moderate AHA level, low pH value and green tea extract combine to make this a truly non-irritating AHA for virtually all skin types. It has been dermatologist tested and approved.
